All Saints Services to begin on June 15
The Church of All Saints by-the-Sea is looking forward to welcoming worshippers and seekers of all faiths to our summer worship season beginning on Sunday, June 15. The chapel and surrounding deck have been repaired and refreshed from last year’s storms and will continue to provide a summer spiritual home to visitors and local worshippers for the 119th year. The Episcopal service of Holy Communion will be celebrated at both 8 and 10 a.m. each Sunday through September 7. People of all faiths are welcome to attend.
All Saints continues its tradition of welcoming visiting clergy from across the country to preside each week sharing a wealth of wisdom and diversity. The season begins with local resident, The Rev. Suzanne F. Colburn and will also feature another returning Mainer, The Rev. Victoria Sirota from Searsmont, Maine. Throughout the season other engaging clergy will join us including The Rev. Canon George Maxwell from Atlanta, Georgia, The Rev. Cristina Paglinauan of Baltimore, Maryland, The Rev. Martin Smith of Washington, D.C., The Rt. Rev. Mark Beckwith of Jaffrey, New Hampshire, and The Rev. Canon Katie Pearson from Denver, Colorado. Readers can find out more about the clergy, directions to the church, and other information on the church’s website, https://allsaintssouthport.org.
The music program at All Saints will continue its excellence with Mr. Henry Lowe as our organist for the entire summer. Mr. Lowe has performed worldwide as a recitalist and accompanist and is retired from Church of the Redeemer in Baltimore. He is a summer resident of Walpole, Maine. On Tuesday mornings, beginning June 17, the visiting clergy will lead a discussion of the week’s scriptures on the porch from 9 to 10 a.m.
For those worshippers who are unable to attend in person, recordings of the services will be available online the week after the service. All Saints by-the-Sea is located on Southport Island about 2 miles south on Route 238. All Saints Road is on the left marked by an Episcopal Church sign. Parking is available along Rt. 238 with a limited number of handicapped spaces off All Saints Road. A golf cart will ferry persons from the handicapped spaces to the church steps. The handicap accessibility ramp to the chapel has been repaired and is again available. The chapel’s dock is also available for use by private boats. The historic chapel strives to be “A Place of Prayer for all People” and will continue to be open during the week for private prayer and contemplation.
