Boothbay Fire & Rescue 2025 Summer Educational Program
With the summer season right in front us and the return of hopefully and at some point – warm and sunny days - Boothbay Fire & Rescue is very pleased to announce the commencement of its 2025 Fire Education and safety awareness series.
We will kick things off starting at the Farmers Market on the Boothbay Common this Thursday, June 5 and running through Oct. 9 and firefighters will be on hand to demonstrate a wide range of fire safety topics, such as how to safely and effectively operate a fire extinguisher, install and maintain smoke and CO2 detectors, creating a home safety and evacuation plan and understanding campfire and wildland fire safety techniques. These are just a few of many fire safety topics available to the public and additionally we will have a fire support vehicle at the commons, full firefighter interior attack gear including Self Contained Breathing Apparatus, and wildland fire water suppression tanks allowing residents and visitors to get a “hand on” fun and engaging experience.
We are also planning additional community education events, where our Boothbay Fire Demonstration team will come directly to residential communities, with a fire truck which allows us to demonstrate a range of fire and rescue educational topics. These sessions proved to be very popular for example last year at the Barters Island Community Association where we had over 80 residents attend a fun and interactive educational session.
Boothbay Fire & Rescue Deputy Chief Joe Hall noted “These educational sessions and events have proven to be extremely popular with the public, as residents and visitors have the opportunity to learn “hands on” with safety equipment and have a comprehensive and integrated perspective on how to keep their families and homes safe. Additionally, it’s a great opportunity to meet our Firefighters, who are volunteers and support our community 24/7. We are grateful for the support of the community and look forward to a fun and engaging 2025 Fire and Rescue Education program”
Community organizations who are interested in having an onsite fire education and safety and awareness session in their local neighborhoods are encouraged to call Deputy Chief Hall at 207.380.6953.
