BHML acquires new technology equipment
The Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library (BHML) is pleased to announce it has been awarded a grant from Coastal Maine Regional Broadband of an OWL 3 device, microphone extender, and large screen TV—innovative tools that are critical for modern meetings and hybrid programs.
The OWL 3 is a 360-degree camera, microphone, and speaker system that makes hybrid meetings and programs more accessible and inclusive. With this new technology, BHML will be able to support hybrid book groups, workshops, board meetings, and more—seamlessly connecting in-person and remote participants.
“The COVID-19 pandemic changed everything about the way we connect and what patrons expect. Flipping around an iPad logged into a Zoom meeting doesn’t provide a good viewing or hearing experience for the remote participant or for those in the room. Fittingly, this year, our summer reading theme is “Level Up at Your Library” the OWL definitely “levels up” our meeting technology,” says Joanna Breen, Library Director.
The Library extends its gratitude to Coastal Maine Regional Broadband for its investment in local connectivity and for recognizing the library’s role in supporting digital inclusion across the peninsula.
