BRWD tanks pass inspection
General Manager Weston Alley told Boothbay Region Water District (BRWD) trustees July 22, the district’s tanks have been cleaned and passed inspection. No scratches or cracks were present. The district was about two years overdue for inspection, which is recommended every 10 years.
“The condition of them (was) phenomenal,” Alley said.
Needed repairs were also completed in the treatment division to the district’s fluoride pump and sewer station check valve.
The water flow the week of July 14 was down from last year’s average: 941,000 gallons a day, compared to 2024’s 961,000 gallons a day.
In other business, Alley met with Dirigo Engineering to go over blueprints for BRWD’s Filter Water Recycling Project. The project bid will hopefully go out this fall.
Trustees also discussed the logistics of implementing solar power. The current issue is that there are currently no municipal grants available for such a project, only ones for community and residential applicants.
