BHSD announces new superintendent
During a Jan. 6 trustees meeting, Boothbay Harbor Sewer District (BHSD) welcomed its new superintendent, Sean Boyd. Former superintendent Chris Higgins has been acting as operator-in-charge since May, following the departure of David Pratt.
In other business, the trustees reviewed their end of 2025 financials. Their net income for the year was $2,149,240.38, which was $5,461.33 less than budgeted. BHSD is also sending a payment request of about $765,000 to USDA Rural Development for phase 1 construction of its coastal resiliency (sea wall) project. The USDA awarded the district about $3.83 million in loans and $400,000 in grant money earlier this year.
The board re-elected its officers for 2026: James Stormont as treasurer, Russell Hoffman as clerk, and Deryl Kipp as chair.
Trustees also approved holding an election for a three-year trustee term. Nomination papers must be turned into Boothbay Harbor Town Hall by Monday, March 2. The election is Friday, May 1 at Boothbay Harbor Town Hall for Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor voters. Hoffman is seeking reelection.
