Lawn sign a mystery to former state rep
No, Stephanie Hawke is not running for governor or any other office. The weekend of June 7-8, Hawke received phone calls regarding a pink lawn sign on the traffic island at the Route One and Route 27 intersection. Signs with a pink background and white lettering were used five years ago when Hawke last ran for the legislature. The sign says, "Bring Back Stephanie Hawke State Rep. She'll work for ALL OF US."
When asked about the sign's appearance, Hawke didn't know who placed the sign in Edgecomb. "I know nothing about it except I've received about four phone calls," she said. "One was from Joel Stetkis (former Maine GOP state committee chairman and state legislator). He was in Boothbay this weekend, and called me after he saw the sign."
Hawke served two terms (2014-18) in the legislature, and is one of Boothbay Harbor's representatives on the Community School District's superintending committee. Hawke told the Boothbay Register June 9, she has no plans for seeking any political offices.
