Maine Art Gallery season ends Oct. 18
Saturday, Oct. 18 marks the last day of a vibrant season for the Maine Art Gallery (MAG). The non-profit association of artists located in Wiscasset recorded double the revenue from the prior year’s sales and about twice the number of visitors, too. By utilizing both floors of the gallery for concurrent shows MAG was able to offer more opportunities for members to exhibit while extending the length of a major retrospective of the works of a single artist.
The season’s schedule opened with a juried members show, "Whimsy," which was followed by a centenary exhibition of the work of Joseph Fiore (1925 – 2008) celebrating a career that captured the natural beauty of Maine. During the course of the Fiore show, which was praised by art critics, two different concurrent exhibits on the gallery’s second floor also reflected the Maine landscape. The final show of the season, “Made in Maine,” fills both floors with works by members.
Non-juried members shows like “Made in Maine” provide all gallery members with an opportunity to be shown professionally. They are also excellent opportunities for all of us to find very good art at reasonable prices. The gallery is open Thursday - Sunday, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
The Maine Art Gallery gratefully acknowledges season sponsor, Sherri Dunbar of Tim Dunham Realty, capital sponsor, Islebrook Village at Wiscasset, an Everbook Senior Living Community.
A nonprofit organization since 1958, the Maine Art Gallery is dedicated to the advancement and preservation of the visual, fine and applied arts through exhibitions, lectures, demonstrations and educational programs for children and adults.
